Following a 20% increase in enrollment, Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, decided to construct the new Rockwell Integrated Science Center (RISD) and tasked Payette, a Boston-based architectural firm, with designing a highly sustainable science center that harmonized with the rest of the century-old campus.



“Minimizing glazing area while maintaining a sense of openness and transparency to and from campus were critical design drivers,” explained Mark Oldham, AIA, design principal, Payette.



To reduce energy consumption and deliver a super thermally efficient building envelope, the firm selected Solarban®&�Բ�����;72&�Բ�����;Starphire®&�Բ�����;���������� by Vitro Architectural Glass due to its optimal balance of solar control, daylighting and low reflectivity.
