The recognition of the CE marking for construction products in the UK will be extended for a further 2.5 years. The new deadline is therefore set for 30 June 2025.

Following the Brexit, the UK government announced that construction products such as glazing placed on the market in Great Britain (GB) would require a UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) mark.  It was announced on 14 November 2022 that the UK will continue to recognise the CE marking for a further 2 years for certain products. At the time, there were doubts about the fact construction products were covered by this extension since they were still subjected to future 鈥渟ector specific arrangements鈥. It is now clear that it will still be possible to introduce CE-marked construction products in Great Britain until mid-2025.

Although this extension is good news, it will now be of prime importance to increase the UK test capability and capacity in order for all flat glass products test to be tested, without disruption, in the UK. As a reminder, the position of Glass for Europe is that, if in 2.5 years鈥 time, the situation remains unchanged, EU Notified Bodies should be allowed to carry out Type Testing in support of UKCA Marking.
