Having invested 拢10m over the past decade in increasing its recycling facilities, the company exceeded its 2017 inputs of post-consumer material by over 15%. As a result of this achievement, Eurocell was able to produce 12,500 tonnes of products made from recycled material at its Midlands- based plant during 2018.

The process of recycling window profiles allows the entire lifespan of the product to become more sustainable. When windows reach the end of their life, they are shredded, granulated and micronised. Using the granulated PVC-U, Eurocell then extrudes new profiles. This process can be repeated up to ten times using the same material, giving recycled PVC-U windows a lifespan of up to 350 years.

Commenting on the company鈥檚 levels of recycling, Chris Coxon, Head of Marketing at Eurocell, said: "It is a testament to our commitment to improving the sustainability of PVC-U that we have been able to achieve record levels of recycling in 2018. Over the past decade we have invested heavily to improve sustainability and this is now enabling us to continue to achieve and surpass the recycling objectives that we set for the business.鈥

鈥淲ith the UK starting to run out of landfill space and 32% of landfill coming from the construction sector, we are proud of the part we are playing in helping to improve the sector鈥檚 sustainability record. As 2019 gets underway we are looking forward to processing even more post-consumer profiles for recycling and hope to see a significant increase on last year鈥檚 impressive figures.鈥
