Yesterday, Glass for Europe dedicated a workshop to the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR). Participants had the opportunity to get informed and discuss the new text in preparation for the related work at all levels of the flat glass value chain that will be impacted.

Justin Loup, Technical Regulations & Project Advisor at Glass for Europe, outlined this new regulation’s legislative processes and provided the main milestones for its future implementation.

Anne Minne, who is in charge of standardisation and advocacy at Saint-Gobain Glass, gave input on the main element of the content of the new text and spoke about the important work currently being done on the CPR Acquis revision process for glass, which will contribute to enabling the standardisation of building glass under the new CPR.

Finally, Anna Šikyňová, Products and sustainability standards manager at AGC Glass Europe, proposed a special focus on the new sustainability rules and already provided some hints on how this will be implemented concretely in the construction product sector.

The workshop concluded with time for questions and answers on this piece of legislation which will play a crucial role in resolving the current deadlocks in the standardisation of construction products in the EU, quite appropriately for it was World Standards Day.
