FB27-25 Considerations for the Appearance of IGU Edge at the Time of Fabrication

This Glass Technical Paper (GTP) is intended to provide guidelines that apply to the appearance of vision and spandrel insulating glass unit (IGU) edges at the time of fabrication. The appearance of the IGU edge is a function of the materials and the fabrication process.

This GTP is not intended to address changes to the IGU edge appearance that may occur over time after fabrication, including, but not limited to, effects due to glazing system design, shipping, handling, storage conditions or installation.

FB40-25 Recyclability of Architectural Glass Products

The interest in recycling architectural glass products is growing; however, information on companies offering recycling services is fragmented and difficult to find. A recent survey conducted by NGA showed that the architectural glass industry is interested in more recyclability of post fabrication products. Respondents indicated that roadblocks such as labor, cost, space and the lack of local resources prevent them from recycling glass waste.

The purpose of this bulletin is to: Identify the different products that can be recycled and those that cannot be recycled; Clarify misconceptions about glass recycling and identify sources for recycling architectural glass; Provide examples of a variety of products that can be created or improved using recycled glass; Quantify and explain some of the societal and sustainability benefits of recycling glass.
