黑料专区house Theatre, located in Brisbane, Australia, was designed by Blight Rayner Architecture in collaboration with Sn酶hetta.

The theatre鈥檚 undulating glass fa莽ade was inspired by a prose poem written by Aboriginal Elder and artist Lilla Watson, which references the ripples of the Brisbane River and fish swimming beneath its surface.

"We wanted the transparent fa莽ade to create a kind of public theatre, where people inside the foyer could appear alternately clear and blurred when viewed from the street. We also wanted to incorporate elements of First Nations storytelling connected to the local context into the design," said Michael Rayner, Director of Blight Rayner Architecture.

Here, glass is no longer simply an enclosure material 鈥 it has become the core language of architectural expression. The wave-like glass fa莽ade gives the theatre lobby a dramatic and dynamic identity.

The project features large-format, tight-radius, double-curved insulated laminated tempered glass panels measuring approximately 7 meters in height, with a minimum radius of just 1 meter. The glass achieves near-semicircular curvature, with seamless transitions between concave and convex surfaces to create a fluid, water-like visual effect.

This was not only a challenge in design, but also an extreme test of precision and optical quality 鈥 any minor deviation would be significantly amplified across the fa莽ade.

To meet the project鈥檚 demanding requirements, a new generation of glass bending equipment and upgraded production processes were introduced, delivering major improvements in roller-wave control and optical distortion management. As a result, these highly complex curved surfaces are not only possible to manufacture, but also visually clean, stable, and elegant.

This project pushed equipment, engineering processes, and manufacturing capabilities to their limits while reflecting the evolution of contemporary architectural glass 鈥 from flat surfaces to free-form curved fa莽ades.

Behind every complex curved curtain wall lies exceptional control over precision, stability, and optical performance. This project represents the highest level of technological expertise in the industry.
