Proper Selection of Sealants

On Tuesday, participants will join a panel of experienced industry experts as they discuss the critical considerations behind the selection and performance of sealants used in insulating glass units, window glazing and structural applications. The session will cover relevant performance standards, material compatibility and critical product testing methods with a focus on how to interpret results and apply them to real-world conditions. Panelists will share practical insights on aligning laboratory data with field performance, helping attendees make informed decisions when selecting sealants for durability, adhesion and long-term reliability across a range of applications. New Version of NAFS

On Wednesday, a panel discussion about the new version of NAFS will feature panelists Lisa Bergeron (), Robert Jutras () and Dan Raap (). The 2026 edition of AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440, North American Fenestration Standard, also known as NAFS, introduces important updates that impact fenestration product testing, labeling and approval across North America. Developed by CSA Group, FGIA and Window & Door Manufacturers Association, the standard continues to evolve in response to industry and regulatory needs. This panel discussion will be focused on the most significant change: the now-mandatory secondary designator, influenced by proposals from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), including what this means for performance ratings, compliance and product approval (especially as concerns like water intrusion gain attention in key regions).

On Tuesday, an exclusive panel session for participants who are attended their first FGIA event will focus on professional development. Panelists for “Leveraging FGIA Education Programs for Your Professional Development” will include Meghan Chamberlin (), Josh Wignall () and Ivan Zuniga (). Window Glass Design, VIG Research

On Wednesday, Dr. S. Morse () will give a presentation called, “Window Glass Design Fundamentals: From Basic Principles to Modern Practice.” This presentation will provide an accessible overview of the engineering principles that govern window glass performance, including strength, stiffness, load resistance and probability of breakage. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of glass design fundamentals, key industry standards such as ASTM E1300 and the factors that influence the selection and performance of modern glazing systems. In addition to presenting on this topic, he will provide an update on a new vacuum insulated glass (VIG) load resistance research project, now underway. This joint research effort with the National Glass Association (NGA) will provide testing data to develop a new ASTM load resistance standard.
