It’s fitting that Rob, who has been instrumental in the development of Glass Futures, is receiving an award named after Sir Alastair Pilkington who invented the float glass method of making sheet glass at our member Pilkington’s factory in St Helens. 

Speaking after the award at the Society of Glass Technology’s Furnace Solutions event Rob said: ” I feel greatly honoured to have been chosen to receive this award. It’s a great privilege to have been given the opportunity over the last 9 years to get involved in such a diverse range of glass-related developments and to have been able to participate in the creation and delivery of the Glass Futures initiation. 

“I’d especially like to thank Dave Dalton, who first recruited me into the glass Industry in 2012, for the support and mentorship he’s provided over the years, not only for giving me the opportunity to join the glass sector but also for his infectious inspiration and drive to change the glass the industry for the better, without his influence I certainly wouldn’t be where I am now. The content and range of papers at the Furnace Solutions event was excellent and it was fantastic to network with such as wide range of contacts across the sector.”
