A visually stunning facade made with digitally printed glass adds glam to the Aleja shopping center, one of Ljubljana’s trendiest spots.

Launched in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, it is the first all-new shopping mall to be opened in Europe after the Covid shutdown. And it was done in compliance with the strictest guidelines for safety, sustainability and outstanding aesthetic criteria. Named the Aleja Shopping Center, it has already become a magnet for residents and visitors to the capital city.

Its stunning prismatic-shaped facade is a huge attraction. Glass – made by , European leader in the production of architectural glass – played a key role for Italian Pichler Projects, specialist in steel buildings and facades, among the industry players that can boast partnerships with the top architectural firms in the world.

Tvitec processed nearly 4,000 meters of glass into unique specimens for this revolutionary shopping and recreation center thanks, in part, to Tecglass digital printing technology. Worthy of special mention, among the vast array of products processed by Tvitec for this project, are the glass panels decorated using digital printing technologies.

Engineered to cater to the most sophisticated aesthetic needs with the utmost efficiency and comfort, they include insulating, tempered and laminated glass, some of which incorporate sun protection film. Crafted using pearl white color points with 60% opacity, these exclusive design pieces maintain visual continuity between the glass panels.

The striking prismatic glass shapes, in many cases IG units filled with argon gas to ensure perfect insulation, add to the unique appearance of the facade crafted by Pichler. Tempering and lamination add outstanding safety.

The shopping center was designed by ATP Architekten Ingenieure. Developed by Austrian Spar European Shopping Centers, it includes 32,000 meters of leasable space and also includes a 6,200 square meter adventure and leisure park on the roof, comprising green space, basketball and volleyball courts and fitness courses.
