Ubiquitous Energy, the leader in transparent solar technology, has been granted a new patent by the USPTO extending the coverage of its聽ClearView Power鈩⒙爐echnology to display applications.

The patent, U.S. Patent 10,403,774, describes a method in which solar technology can be seamlessly integrated with displays to provide power without visual impact. The patent has potential applications for consumer electronic devices, digital signage, and the internet of things.

鈥淭his patent is a great utilization of our transparent solar technology鈥檚 wavelength-selective absorption. This allows product designers to create products integrated with solar energy harvesting while maintaining great aesthetics,鈥 said founder and CTO Miles Barr. While the company鈥檚 short-term commercialization efforts are focused in architectural window and building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) markets, this display patent shows the breadth of the company鈥檚 platform technology, which can be applied to a variety of products including commercial and residential windows, automotive glass, greenhouses, displays, other consumer electronics.

Ubiquitous Energy has a growing global patent portfolio of more than 50 issued or pending patents, including thousands of individual claims. This broad patent protection has the company well positioned to commercialize its novel transparent solar technology for many end applications.
