During the China Glass 2026 exhibition, Uniglass and Xtend Blowers Finland Oy agreed to an OEM partnership to supply high-performance composite (carbon fiber) impellers for Uniglass tempering lines.

Xtend Blowers Finland Oy specializes in high-performance composite impellers. Under this agreement, carbon fiber impellers will be offered for Uniglass tempering lines.

Why carbon fiber?

Carbon fiber impellers deliver practical benefits where they matter most: cooling performance, safety and reliability. The benefits in brief:

  • Energy savings in cooling thanks to an advanced, lightweight, high-strength impeller design
  • Improved line safety by reducing mechanical stress on the blower and lowering failure risk
  • Higher reliability with lighter rotating mass for smoother operation and stable performance
  • Extended lifespan with a design built to handle rapid, repeated speed changes

鈥淥ur customers can now easily support their sustainability goals through reduced energy use and safer, more efficient production,鈥 says Pyry Ollonqvist, General Manager at Uniglass.

鈥淭he shift from steel impellers to carbon fiber impellers in tempering lines is not new, but it has now become a preferred option with its clear benefits and payback. We are happy to work in close cooperation with an OEM manufacturer to advance development in the glass industry,鈥 says Jani Korpim盲ki, CTO at CSI Xtend Blowers Finland Oy.

What does this mean for Uniglass customers?

This partnership makes it easier to specify carbon fiber impellers as an option, helping producers reduce energy use while improving operational safety and long-term performance.
