Upcoming Vitro Certified庐 Network meeting marks 25 years since inaugural gathering

Vitro Architectural Glass (formerly PPG Glass) and its Vitro Certified Network of fabricators, located throughout North America, are celebrating 25 years of continuous innovation behind Solarban solar control low-e glass, Vitro鈥檚 flagship product, delivering proven performance.

As trusted and reliable fabricators of Solarban glass, the most preferred low-e glass among U.S. architects, the Vitro Certified Network has played a critical role in advancing Solarban glass capabilities, helping to set a higher global standard for energy鈥慹fficient building design.

鈥淭丑别 Vitro Certified Network has been instrumental in driving the growth and innovation of Solarban glass, offering architects an unmatched range of performance and aesthetic options,鈥 said Andre Kenstowicz, Manager of the Vitro Certified Network and Key Projects.

Over the past 25 years, this partnership has driven the shipment of more than 3.6 billion square feet of Solarban glass to projects around the world while delivering a series of groundbreaking advancements in low鈥慹 technology, including Solarban 60 glass. Introduced in 2000 as the world鈥檚 first double-silver vacuum temperable low-e glass that allowed for post-manufacturing fabrication, more than 2.6 billion square feet of Solarban 60 glass has been shipped.

Solarban 60 glass changed the industry by allowing Vitro to ship monolithic high-performing coated glass, giving fabricators across the country the ability to cut and temper it at their facilities,鈥 said Kenstowicz. 鈥淭his breakthrough significantly expanded local fabrication capabilities and sped up how quickly projects could be served.鈥

Additional Solarban glass milestones over the past quarter century include:

  • Solarban 70 glass: The world鈥檚 first triple-silver low-e glass, and today, the most specified glass of its kind on the market. Nearly one billion square feet of Solarban 70 glass has been shipped since its 2005 debut.
  • Solarban R100 Glass: A pioneering product introduced in 2010 that initiated the next generation of Vitro鈥檚 reflective low-e coatings, Solarban R100 glass was the first low-e coating in the Solarban glass family to achieve a SHGC of 0.23.
  • Solarban 90 Glass: The world鈥檚 first quad silver low-e glass, Solarban 90 glass has achieved industry recognition, providing architects with unmatched high-performance and aesthetic options for sustainable building envelopes.
  • Solarban Champane Low-e Glass: Vitro鈥檚 newest innovation and breakthrough in warm-toned low-e glass, Solarban Champane glass subtly reflects warm-neutral champagne tones while delivering proven thermal performance, all thanks to its innovative, first of its kind low-e coating.

Members of the Vitro Certified Network gain exclusive access to advanced training in glass handling and fabrication, helping ensure consistent color, quality and reliable product performance.

Through flexible, on-demand modules and expert led in-person audit seminars, members strengthen technical expertise, accelerate onboarding and address specific improvement areas across fabrication, coating, safety and performance. This ongoing education drives higher audit scores, greater operational consistency and a clear competitive advantage in meeting the industry鈥檚 highest standards.

鈥淭丑别 Vitro Certified Network continues to open new doors for glass innovation, enabling us to meet evolving market needs, exceed customer expectations and ensure high-quality fabrication with the speed and reliability glaziers depend on, where and when they need it,鈥 said Kenstowicz.
