Allied Glazing Systems is proud to have won a contract with聽Bowmer + Kirkland, one of the leading construction and development groups in the UK to manufacture, fabricate and install all doors, windows and curtain walling for the new Harris Academy in Wimbledon.

Lead contractors Bowmer + Kirkland were appointed to the (ESFA) National Framework in 2013 for the construction of new schools in England and the Harris Academy in Wimbledon is being built under that framework. Allied Glazing Systems are an approved supplier of Bowmer + Kirkland for the framework and have provided similar services very successfully on other schools.

The is a not-for-profit charity with 44 Academies centred in and around London and the M25 Corridor. Comprising of Primary, All Through and Secondary Schools, the Federation prides itself on over 80% of its Institutions being rated as 鈥極utstanding鈥 by OFSTED, a testament to its forward-thinking ethos and proof of the excellent learning experience for students.

Work on site for the 5 storey 6FE school facility for 1150 pupils aged between 11 and 18 began in June 2019 with Allied Glazing System鈥檚 work commencing in mid-October. The team will be designing, fabricating and installing windows, doors and curtain walling to the building, leaving site in January 2020 when Bowmer + Kirkland鈥檚 work will continue to completion at the end of August 2020.

has creatively designed the building to follow the footprint of the irregular shaped piece of land, with the further complication of its tapering geometry. CPMG has reflected this and tailored the building to make the most of the space available.

The Academy will encompass the 鈥榣earning hub鈥 dining and library space on the ground floor, twin entrances for office and student information centre, sports centre for community use and distributed staff offices. To maximise the limited space, the new building will feature an elevated sports hall with an external student social space underneath.
