Two Clear Structures projects have been shortlisted for the inaugural AJ Specification Awards 2019.

Celebrating collaboration and the innovative use of materials and products to overcome challenges, the awards have 12 categories, each judged by a panel of experts.

In particular, Hall Black Douglas Architects has been shortlisted with Topglass Contracts in the Doors & Windows category for their work on the Tropical Ravine, situated in Belfast鈥檚 Botanic Gardens.

A three year, 拢3.8m restoration provided a much needed update while reinstating the listed greenhouse鈥檚 Victorian features. Clear Structures worked with Topglass on the structure鈥檚 entrance and lobby screens, internal glass walls, glass balustrades and steel frames.

The renovation has helped ensure the preservation of a rich botanical collection, including some of the world鈥檚 oldest plants, for future audiences to enjoy.

For the visually striking V&A Dundee, Kengo Kuma & Associates, PiM.studio Architects and James F Stephen Architects, with Fa莽ade & Glazing Solutions UK, have been shortlisted in the Fa莽ades and Glazing category. Scotland鈥檚 first design museum opened last September and has since captured the imaginations of an international audience.

Upon entering the museum, visitors are welcomed into a captivating and spacious atrium, featuring prominent glass features designed by Clear Structures. Our work included the bolted glass balustrading to the main feature staircase and the base clamped glass to the atrium mezzanine.

The winners of the AJ Specification Awards will be announced on 15th February.
