According to the survey carried out by PwC, a leading brand in professional services to companies, in co-operation with the University of Bergamo, UBI Banca, and Confindustria Bergamo, this Top 500 report is an analysis of the balance books and economic performance of Bergamo's companies.

This research aims at analysing select economic and financial performances of the first 500 companies with registered offices and/or operating activities in the province of Bergamo. This selection was made on the basis of both turnover and the availability of the regularly approved budget.

The analysis is aimed at investigating three important characteristics of the major companies in the Province of Bergamo: company size, profitability, and financial risk.

The companies operating in the "Machinery and equipment" industry, classified among the Top 500 in the province of Bergamo, can almost all be recognized amongst those that have mainly contributed to the growth of the sector.

The data reported and analysed came from the consolidated group financial statements or the balance of the business year, should the consolidated financial statements have not been drawn up or were not available.
