The gala dinner of the 26th year of the awards, which are hosted by North and South Lanarkshire Councils, provided the perfect opportunity to publicly recognise the outstanding businesses of the last 12 months.

As the sponsor of the “Community Impact” category, CMS played an active role in the judging and was privileged to be able to present the award to the winner, Tommy Chambers, founder of SoundSational Community Music, alongside comedienne and actress Elaine C Smith.

SoundSational was a well-deserved winner. Established in 2010 by Tommy, SoundSational is one of the largest community arts organisations in Scotland and home to the incredibly talented award winning SoundSational Community Choir.

Tommy is a multi-instrumentalist who has always believed that making music should be accessible to all walks of life and in particular to those who, for various reasons, would not normally have access to or be encouraged to participate in music or the arts.

Craig Reid, PVC Contracts Director at CMS, who presented the award to SoundSational, said: “Congratulations to Tommy and SoundSational who are doing an amazing job in bringing music and people together, creating community cohesion and making music accessible to all. With such a high standard of entries, choosing a winner is never easy but we’re delighted to support the Lanarkshire Business Awards and be part of this fantastic annual celebration.”

The Lanarkshire Business Awards recognised individual and team success across ten categories of business endeavour. Elaine C Smith compered the evening and guests were entertained by SoundSational. The great generosity of everyone who attended the awards dinner raised over £8000 for Kilbryde Hospice too.
