A key building within the major Time Square redevelopment project by Muse in conjunction with Warrington Borough Council, the new eight-level car park provides around 1200 parking spaces for users of the new offices, retail outlets, restaurants and leisure facilities. Designed by Leach Rhodes Walker and delivered by main contractor I & H Brown, the contemporary structure adds a creative new dimension to Warrington鈥檚 skyline thanks to its gold-coloured fa莽ade.
Although MSCP鈥檚 are not typically noted for their high quality architectural design, the Time Square scheme is different. Said to be inspired by the town鈥檚 famous 鈥榞olden gates鈥 and its Victorian industrial heritage, the fa莽ade design features golden hexagon-shaped cut-outs and aerofoil fins, with full height aluminium glazing encapsulating the pedestrian access areas and providing an attractive ground floor entrance.
CMS Window Systems was tasked with the manufacture and installation of silicone pointed glazed curtain walling which provides natural daylighting into the stairwells. This was created using Metal Technology鈥檚 System 17 SP range and in total covers an area of around 500 m2 with a contemporary grey RAL 7016 finish for the framing. Louvre openings, allowing air and light into the structure whilst keeping sunshine and moisture out, were constructed from Metal Technology鈥檚 system 23
In addition, CMS completed the manufacture and installation of glazed aluminium windows and doors for other areas of the building, along with providing fire resistant screens, a bullet resistant cashier鈥檚 screen and automatic steel doors.
Stephen Anderson, Aluminium Director at CMS Window Systems said: 鈥淭he new Time Square multi-storey car park demonstrates how these usually utilitarian buildings can be designed in a way that enhances the urban realm and we are delighted to have been a part of the project team. The project also reflects our capabilities very well too, showcasing our complete design, manufacture and installation service for architectural facades benefiting commercial developers and main contractors right across the UK.鈥
The Time Square MSCP is part of a major redevelopment scheme which is transforming the heart of Warrington. Speaking at the time of the car park鈥檚 construction, Terry O'Neill, leader of Warrington Borough Council, said: "The new car park is an integral and highly important part of the Bridge Street regeneration project as it will underpin and support the whole scheme. It is another great move forward for the regeneration of the town centre."
CMS Window Systems is one of the UK鈥檚 leading window, door and curtain walling manufacturers and installers, employing more than 270 people at its manufacturing and recycling sites in Cumbernauld near Glasgow and Kirkcaldy, Fife.
As a major supply chain partner to commercial developers, the education sector, local authorities, housing associations and housebuilders, CMS offers a wide range of aluminium and PVC systems to provide a solution for every kind of new build or refurbishment project, all manufactured in Scotland to the highest standards in the most resource-efficient, sustainable factories.
