The report is based upon an annual survey sponsored by Hanley Wood on behalf of their publication, Builder.

The survey, conducted by The Farnsworth Group, gauges the attitudes of U.S. builders, developers, and contractors toward the products they recognize, use, and trust, as well as their overall willingness to try new products. For the 2019 report, 1,059 surveys were completed, highlighting the year’s leaders across 50 building-product categories.

The purpose of the survey findings is to profile the brands used by builders. Specific areas of inquiry included:

• The number and average sale price of residential units built in 2018.
• Familiarity, use, and opinions about brands in all product categories.
• Importance of factors influencing brand selection within each product category.
