When designing a façade today, a number of complex requirements must be considered: energy performance, low carbon footprint, comfort, durability, recyclability, aesthetics, cost effectiveness, etc.

Saint-Gobain Glass’ solutions are developed to facilitate this process. For this purpose, Saint-Gobain Glass has partnered with to offer a dynamic façade solution combining COOL-LITE® solar control glazing and metallized internal shades.

This combination brings several advantages:

  • Outstanding energy efficiency through dynamic solar management
  • Efficient overheating and glare protection
  • Enhanced daylight provision and views access
  • Reduced façade carbon footprint
  • Optimized total costs of ownership with attractive investment and low maintenance costs.

The benefits of this combined solution were outlined in a comprehensive study comparing different glazing and shading systems in several geographical locations. Dynamic thermal simulation and climate-based daylight modelling were used to quantify the impact on energy and carbon performance as thermal and visual comfort. Carbon and cost analysis were also included in the holistic assessment.

The findings highlight how COOL-LITE® solar control glazing combined with Kvadrat Shade internal metallized shading enables to achieve a perfect balance between the numerous façade requirements mentioned above.
